RTI Health Solutions (RTI-HS) is proud to announce that two of our researchers have been awarded fellowship status by the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) Board of Directors. Both Alicia Gilsenan, PhD, RPh, and Andrea Margulis, MD, ScD, will be acknowledged as new FISPE members during the annual meeting of the 2020 ICPE All Access conference. They were recommended for this honor by a committee of their peers and are recognized for leadership roles in the field of pharmacoepidemiology.
Alicia Gilsenan, Senior Director and Head of Epidemiology at RTI-HS, has been a member of ISPE since 2000 and has served in leadership positions such as chair and past-chair of the Membership Committee, co-chair for the Benefit-Risk Assessment and Communication Special Interest Group, and instructor and course organizer for pre-conference workshops.
In her 23 years with RTI-HS, she has worked in a variety of therapeutic areas, led retrospective and prospective multinational studies, and currently focuses on post-marketing safety and efficacy studies and benefit-risk assessment training and support.
Alicia shares, “For the past 20 years, attending the annual ICPE meetings and mid-year meetings has always been a highlight, not only for the educational content and wonderful travel opportunities but really for the networking and friendships that have evolved and continue to develop. I look forward to seeing everyone in person at a future ICPE and am honored to now be able to add FISPE to my title.”
Andrea Margulis, Director of Epidemiology at RTI-HS, has been with RTI-HS for nine years and has been a member of ISPE since 2008. She has served ISPE in various capacities, including chair-elect of the Education Committee, session presenter and moderator, member of the Pregnancy and the Pediatric Special Interest Groups, member of the Latin American Regional Interest Group, and instructor and course organizer in the pregnancy pharmacoepidemiology course.
Andrea specializes in pediatrics and drug safety in pregnancy and has published numerous studies on these and other therapeutic areas. She received her postdoctoral training at the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research in the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and leads and provides technical work and epidemiological and clinical advice in multiple projects, from systematic literature reviews to multi-database studies required by regulatory agencies.
