Willings Botha, PhD, is a Research Economist in the Health Preferences Assessment group at RTI-HS. Dr. Botha has more than 15 years of experience in academia, and his doctorate research examined the development of broader economic evaluative space for public health interventions. Dr. Botha developed an integrated approach for public health interventions that combines traditional cost-utility analysis for health outcomes with stated preference discrete-choice experiments for non–health-related outcomes on a single monetary scale, using the net monetary benefit framework. His previous research has included the economic evaluation of the Woods In and Around Towns project in Scotland, United Kingdom, and an evaluation of the economics of fertility treatment in Australia to value outcomes beyond health. Dr. Botha has expertise in capturing and valuing non–market-priced outcomes of complex interventions and in stated preference discrete-choice experiment methods in health care.
