Elizabeth Myer, PhD, RN-BC, is a Senior Research Scientist in the Patient-Centered Outcomes Assessment group with RTI-HS. Dr. Myer is experienced in qualitative and quantitative methodologies, project management, and strategic consulting. A nurse by training, she is knowledgeable in a wide range of therapeutic areas, with specialized expertise in geriatrics and dementia. Her previous research has focused on assessment and management of pain and immobility in older adults. Prior to her role at RTI-HS, Dr. Myer was a postdoctoral scholar at the Durham Center of Innovation to Accelerate Discovery and Practice Transformation (ADAPT), a VA Health Services Research and Development Center. Her postdoctoral research investigated patient experiences with a hospital-based supervised walking program for older veterans. As a VA postdoctoral scholar, she implemented new models of care at the Durham VA medical center, including a dementia champion program for acute care nursing staff, virtual reality dementia care training for residents, and interdisciplinary behavioral care huddles for prevention and management of agitation and aggression in veterans with dementia. Dr. Myer has received advanced training in implementation science, human centered design, and longitudinal statistics.
