Katherine Sutton, DPT, PhD, is a Senior Research Scientist at RTI-HS. Dr. Sutton has expertise in qualitative, quantitative, and multiple methods of study design for development and application of patient-reported outcomes in clinical trial research and healthcare delivery. As a physical therapist, she specialized in orthopedic conditions, as well as complex and chronic pain. She has contributed to the evaluation and development of measures across a variety of patient populations and clinical settings, particularly in orthopedic and infectious disease conditions. These measures have focused on health-related quality of life, including functional limitations, and have been used in pragmatic trials and observational cohorts. Dr. Sutton regularly conducts qualitative interviews with patients, caregivers, providers, insurers and payers, and policy makers to develop materials for development and use of measures in clinical research or care. Her work has been published in the Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery International, Telemedicine and E-Health, Medical Care, and Journal of Orthopaedic & Sports Physical Therapy.
