Richard Mellor, PhD, is a Research Economist in the Health Preference Assessment group with RTI-HS. Dr. Mellor has 7 years of research experience in both the academic and corporate sectors and has extensive experience using both quantitative and qualitative research methods to understand the experiences and preferences of people accessing healthcare services. Dr. Mellor held a 2-year research fellow position at the University of New South Wales, Australia, where he managed a range of research projects in close consultation with state governments, health services, and community organizations. The aim of this research was to contribute to a better distribution of treatment resources and improved access for people seeking drug and alcohol treatment in Australia.

Prior to joining RTI-HS, Richard worked as a Senior Research Manager for a consultancy group specializing in stated-preference research projects with industry and government partners across a range of disease and therapy areas. 

Dr. Mellor has presented his research at international conferences and has published in peer-reviewed journals including Addiction, Contemporary Drug Problems, Drug and Alcohol Review, Sucht, and Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment.
